Julie Vermeille presents her latest illustration work in form of a book : ” Arthur’s seat” a children story for all ages.

Her presentation introduces characters which step off the pages into life ; momentarily entering the Craft Central gallery space.

This weekend at the Barbican gives visitors the chance to experience performances, exhibitions, creative workshops, family activities and some free events. They include ‘Home Sweet Home’, a participatory event to build a cardboard community; animation workshops; ‘Bells’ by Akademi, a modern interpretation of Kathak and Indian dance styles; and interactive performances with World in Motion drummers.

Millennium Gallery and The House of Fairy Tales present an exhibition of over 100 artworks exploring folklore, mythology and metamorphoses from more than 60 emerging, established and internationally acclaimed artists. The selection of work embraces excellence, innovation, elegance, charm, humour and a curiosity for the dark and sometimes disturbing. It is also the start of a season of collaborations between London and Cornwall based artists, including many Millennium artists.
The opening night of the exhibition on Saturday 6th March will feature a live performance from Cornwall based American artist and musicianWilliam Fontaine and transformative photographic portraits from London based Italian artist Maria Teresa Gavazzi.
To celebrate the beginning of British Summer Time there will be poetry, performance, live music and an outdoor parade of paper and willow lanterns during the exhibition’s closing weekend.
